Welcome to IBUS2001: Cross-Cultural Management and Negotiations Semester 2 2023

This course delves into the impact of cultural differences on the business process and international management. It explores various conceptual frameworks related to management and negotiation in a cross-cultural context, while critically analyzing and applying models of cross-cultural management to real-world business cases. The course also examines the challenges associated with operating international business relationships that involve diverse workforces.

Topics covered in the course include understanding how managers make decisions and create meaning through their mental models, organizing and managing diverse teams, conflict management and negotiations, understanding cultural differences, and mapping institutional differences across countries. The course places particular emphasis on cross-country and cross-institutional negotiations, different leadership styles, and the concept of "global managers."

By adopting a problem-based learning approach that utilizes relevant cases and experiences, the course highlights the significance of effective communication as an essential attribute. It also provides practical examples of cross-cultural negotiation within relevant business environments.
